2nd Australian Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software
The Safety Critical Systems Technical Committee held its 2nd National
Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software (SCS 1997) in Sydney on the 3rd October
1997. The workshop was held in conjunction with the 1997 Australian Software Engineering
Conference ASWEC'97).
The full-day workshop consisted of seven practical experience reports on the use of software in
safety-related applications.
More than 40 people attended the workshop, from a diverse range of
organisations and industry sectors, including railways, aerospace, mining, automotive,
defence and public utilities. A number of people came from overseas to attend the
workshop.
An expert panel discussion session of software safety standards was chaired by Dr Praful
Bhansali, Airplane Software Safety and Security Focal for the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group,
USA. The panel included the following distinguished members:
