2002 : 7th Workshop

7th Australian Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software

The Safety Critical Systems Technical Committee held its 7th National Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software (SCS 2002) in Adelaide over one and a half days (17-18th October 2002) and attracted over 70 participants.

The workshop featured keynote addresses by international software safety experts Professor John McDermid (University of York, UK), Dr John Rushby (SRI International, USA), and Felix Redmill (Convener of the UK SCS Club). The international speaker programme was partially funded by the Department of Education, Science and Training's Frontiers of S&T Missions and Workshops component of the Innovation Access Programme administered by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE).

The workshop also included the launch of the Australian Safety Critical Systems Club (ASCSC).

In association with the workshop, a short course: Principles of Safety Management and Safety Engineering was conducted by Felix Redmill (UK Safety Critical Systems Club) on the Thursday morning, prior to the workshop (not included in workshop registration or fees).

This year's workshop proceedings will appear as Volume 15 in the Conferences in Research and Practice in Information Technology series.
